3 Days With Scott Palmer Racing
2016 NHRA AAA Auto Club Finals
I had the opportunity to spend three days with Scott Palmer Racing at the 2016 NHRA AAA Auto Club Finals embedded with the team, and it was a fun and chaotic experience documenting Scott, Co-Crew Chief Ashley Fye, Co-Crew Chief Rick Ducusin, and crew members Clint Brewer and Chris Sorrells working to get the SPR 5050 Top Fuel Dragster into the 16 car field for Sunday eliminations at the last drag race of the year in Pomona, CA. It was a tough weekend; however, and a couple of bugaboos kept them in the pits the final day of racing. "That's just racing."
Scott Palmer Racing recently secured full year sponsorship from Tommy Thompson Motorsports under the CatSpot Litter brand and will be running the full 2017 NHRA schedule. Not only will owner/operator/driver/tuner and sometimes tow vehicle driver be busy with his dragster; but, the team will also be fielding their Lucas Oil Drag Boat Racing Series Top Fuel Hydro "Liquid Voodoo" with Scott Compton in the capsule when they can fit it in their NHRA schedule.
The Scott Palmer Racing team has been making incremental improvements over the last few years, and with the new sponsorship and resources that Tommy Thompson Motorsports can provide, I'm anticipating 2017 to be their best year to date on both land and water.
